Distribution of facial masks for the disadvantaged Municipality Residents starts on Thursday 27.8.

In accordance with the guidelines given by the THL (Finnish institute for health and welfare) the Pyhäjoki Municipality starts distributing free facial masks to the disadvantaged Municipality Residents from Thursday 27.8. onwards. The aim is to protect the fellow people from being exposed to the COVID-19.

Principles of the distribution

Pyhäjoki Municipality distributes both disposable and washable (fabric) masks. The client him/herself must choose which of the two (s)he is going to use. It is not possible to receive both. Disadvantaged Municipality Residents over 15 years of age are entitled to receive their masks. The people needing the masks must evaluate themselves their right for these free masks. The masks of the minors (15-17-year-olds) are only given to their guardian.

The client can get either 3 units of reusable, washable fabric masks or 20 units of disposable masks. The instructions of use are given when collecting the masks.

The place of distribution is Pyhäjoki library

The place of distribution for the facial masks is from Thursday 27.8. onwards Pyhäjoki library. The distribution takes place during the opening hours of the library.

Situations in which it is recommendable to use a facial mask

THL recommends the use of masks in the following situations and for the following people:

  • In public transport where near contacts cannot be avoided.
  • People going for COVID-19 testing and before hearing the results of the test, if it is obligatory to move outside one´s home.
  • Passengers arriving to Finland from the Risk Regions while they move from the entrance point to quarantine, or if they during the quarantine have an obligatory reason to move outside their home / place of quarantine.

It is good to keep the facial mask on also in other situations where it is impossible to avoid close contacts.
