Safety and public order

Pyhäjoki is a safe place to live. The Public Order Act, which came into force on 1 October 2003, replaced the municipalities' own public order regulations. The Public Order Act is enforced by the police.

Public order and safety are provided by the Rescue Act and the Public Order Act and in practice, this is done by several different authorities in cooperation with others. The Pohde wellbeing services county of North Ostrobothnia is responsible for fire and rescue services.

Police operations

The police are responsible for, among other things, safeguarding law and public order, maintaining security and preventing and investigating crime and submitting offences to the prosecutor for the consideration of charges. Local policing is administratively located in the municipalities. In Pyhäjoki, Jokilaaksot Police Department is responsible for police operations, with the main police station in Ylivieska and other police stations in Raahe and Haapajärvi. Oulu Police Department

Rescue services

The basic mission of the rescue services is to prevent accidents and hazardous situations. However, when accidents do occur, rescue services must be able to provide assistance quickly and efficiently. To prevent accidents and maintain safety, rescue services work together with other authorities, local communities and residents. In Pyhäjoki, the fire and rescue service is responsible for Rescue Department of North Ostrobothnia

Maritime search and rescue

Alarm procedure. Maritime search and rescue emergency number 0204 1000 and general emergency number 112 hotline 24 h. In addition, maritime search and rescue vessels and the maritime search and rescue services listen to vhf channel 16.
