In Pyhäjoki, every season is magical! Let’s journey together in each season to a remote natural spot, where travelers are greeted by a cultural experience — in the middle of nowhere.

Sunday, 20 September 2026: Partisipants will cycle along scenic gravel roads to the Oravisjärvi lean-to shelter (Vaihojantie 219), where the beat of drums and the crackling of a campfire await! Kristiina Jaakola, Black Raven, will take participants on a journey of communal spirituality through drumming and a nature experience. If you have your own drum, feel free to bring it along. Cyclists depart from the library at 6 PM. You can also arrive at the event by car.

The event is part of the official Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture programme.

Pyhäjoki Bankroutes

The bench trails are not actually nature trails, but they are still a great destination especially if you are looking for an easy but longer cycling route. You can reach the bench trail that runs north of Pyhäjoki all the way to the village of Pirttikoski. At the beginning of the trail, you can make a fire at a lean-to shelter and take a seat on the benches to observe the nature along the riverbank.
The Pirttikoski circuit is about 19 km long if you follow the North Branch bench trail to Pirttikoski, cross the river via the Kuusiniemi Bridge, and return via the South Branch bench trail. You can also choose a shorter route by following the Saari bench trail.
